This Privacy Policy (“Privacy Policy” or “Policy”) hereby incorporates by reference all terms, conditions, rules, policies and guidelines on the Site, including the 31Projects User Agreement. This Privacy Policy is effective as of March 1, 2010. Your use of the Site after such time will signify your acceptance of this Policy.
31Projects respects your privacy and cares about how your information is used and shared. We appreciate your trust in this regard and assure you that we will make every reasonable effort to manage your information securely and carefully. When visiting or interacting with any part of the Site, you are expressly consenting to the collection, processing, or disclosure of your personal information for the purposes and in the manner described in this Privacy Policy, so please read it carefully.
Notification of Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time as our Site and its associated services change and expand by updating or replacing this page. We may also from time to time notify users of major changes to the Policy by email (but we do not undertake to send emails for all changes) or by posting notice on the Site. Your continued use of the Site indicates your acceptance of these changes.
Registration Information
If you register for an account as a Member through the Site, we collect and store personal information which specifically identifies you or your account. You may choose not to provide certain optional information, but then you might not be able to take advantage of all of the features available on the Site. We may, in the future, ask for additional information from you to help us improve the Site and the value it provides to you. Except to fulfill the purposes for which you are using the Site, without your agreement, we will not intentionally share, rent or sell any personal information to third parties in any way other than what is disclosed in this Privacy Policy.
Service Providers
We employ other companies and individuals to perform functions related to the operation of the Site on our behalf. We will share your personal information as necessary for third parties to provide these services. We ask these companies to not retain, share, store, or use personally identifiable information for any other purposes.
Automatically Gathered Information and Cookies
31Projects may automatically collect certain types of information, such as browser type, in order to tailor the presentation of the Site and the services offered to the Member’s or visitor’s platform and to maintain a record of the Member’s or visitor’s activity on the Site. We may also collect IP address information but will only use such information when, in our sole discretion, it becomes necessary in order to enforce compliance with the User Agreement or to protect our Site, customers or others. Like many other sites, we or our contractors may place small data files called cookies on your computer. These cookies are used to enable Members to specify unique preferences and to track Member and visitor use of the Site.
Profiles and Feedback Resumes
Project Sponsors and Consultants are required to provide certain types of information upon registration to be used in the development of a “Resume.” The Resumes of Consultants are supplemented by information collected through feedback which Consultants receive from Project Sponsors after each completed Project. This feedback is compiled to form a “Feedback Resume” which is tied to the Consultant’s Resume. The information contained in Resumes and Feedback Resumes may be viewable by other Members of the Site in certain cases. We understand that such information may be sensitive for some Members that do not wish to have this information exposed to all other Members, and as such we have instituted a system by which each Member’s Resume is associated solely with the username which the Member has chosen. Through this system a Resume may be viewed but the identity of the Member to which the Resume belongs remains anonymous unless the Member chooses to reveal it. Resumes can only be connected with the identities of individual Members when a Member grants permission, either explicitly or implicitly for example through application to a Consult Project or submission of a solution to a Challenge Project, to another Member to view its identity and contact information.
Public Information
Resumes and Feedback Resumes of Members may be viewable by non-Members through the Site. To protect the identities of Members, no personally identifiable information or contact information will be made available to non-Members in connection with the Resumes, ensuring that they remain anonymous. Members may, at their discretion, choose to make their Resume or Feedback Resume publicly viewable in connection with their identity, for example by linking to it from a third-party website. 31Projects will not have any obligation or be held liable for any information which you choose to make public or reveal to other Members via the Site.
Information Shared with Other Members
Members may voluntarily choose to share personally identifiable or contact information about themselves with other members through the Site. We will only share such information when a Member consents to us doing so. The posting of Projects by Project Sponsors and the application of Consultants to Projects constitutes consent of the two parties to reveal such information as necessary to complete the Project. 31Projects will reveal the names and contact information of both Project Sponsor and Consultant selected either to participate in a Consult or Managed Consult Project or as the winner of a Challenge Project to the other party.
Legal Requests
31Projects cooperates with law enforcement inquiries, as well as other third parties to enforce laws. We can (and you authorize us to) disclose any information about you, including the content of your online communications through the Site, if we believe in good faith that such disclosure is necessary to comply with relevant laws or to protect or defend the rights or property of 31Projects or third parties.
Affiliates
Although we currently do not have a parent company, any subsidiaries, joint ventures, or other companies under a common control, we may in the future. We may share some of all of the information collected through the Site with these affiliates, in which case we will require our affiliates to honor this Privacy Policy.
Business Transaction
In the event of the purchase or restructuring of the whole or part of our business, certain intellectual property, including our customer's information, may be transferred to another party in the normal course of business.
When You Consent
Other than as set out above, you will receive notice when information about you will be used for some other purposes and you will have an opportunity to choose not to share the information by notifying us accordingly.

31Projects is committed to ensuring that your information is secure, and we will use commercially reasonable methods to keep your information securely in our files and systems. Please note that with current technology, we cannot guarantee the security of your data on our Site or as it travels over the Internet.
